Registration requirements

The individual must register with NIB as a self-employed contributor. Registration normally occurs when the person begins operating the business or earning income

Contribution rate

10% of insurable income

Payment methods

Payment at NIB offices Bank deposits or transfers Cheque payments Online or electronic payment methods where available

  • Administration fee: $20.00
  • Reasons: Lost, stolen, damaged, or name change
  • Processing time: 5 working days (Grand Turk and Providenciales), longer for other islands
  • Required: Passport photo, birth certificate, marriage/divorce papers (for name change)
  • Stores all your employment and contribution records
  • Remains the same throughout your working life, even when changing jobs
  • Always verify your name and NINO on your pay stubs
