A Parent Benefit is payable to the dependent parent of a deceased insured person whose death resulted from an employment injury or occupational disease. The parent must have been wholly or mainly dependent on the deceased at the time of death.
To qualify, the parent must demonstrate that they derived their main financial support from the deceased insured person. This benefit falls under the Employment Injury provisions of the National Insurance Ordinance.
Benefit rate definition: The Parent Benefit is paid at a rate of 40% of 60% of the deceased’s average weekly insurable earnings. This benefit is payable for as long as the conditions of dependency continue to be satisfied.
